While the RTX 3060 Ti has 8GB of GDDR6 RAM, the non-Ti version actually comes with 12GB, but it's not a clear-cut win for the lesser-powered GPU as we'll cover later.
RTX 4060 cards support AV1 video encoding, improving the quality of your streams. The GeForce RTX 4060 uses 60 Watts less of power (35%) on average than the previous generation RTX 3060 - while achieving 63% higher framerates: Upgrading to a GeForce RTX 4060 compared to a RTX 3060 could save up to $132 in energy costs over the course of 4 years.
It’s because of the memory bus configurations that they used. The 3060 uses a 192 bit bus, which only allows for certain vram allotments, such as 3/6/12gb etc. Whereas the 3060 ti has a wider 256 bit bus that allows for 4/8/16gb etc. I guess they decided that 6gb on the 3060 wasn’t enough, so they had to go for 12gb.
And rtx 4060/ti should deliver on that front. Regular 4060 only 115w, which is big jump. It doesnt really makes sense to buy 3060ti now, as there is 4060 around the corner, which will be much more power efficient. On the other hand, regular 3060 is still way to go, as 4060 will be 100€ more. But then again, there is 6650XT.

Is it still worth buying RTX 3060 12GB in 2023? Build Help. My use cases are video editing (beginner), maybe some gaming, titles like EA Sports FC, Cyber Punk, and maybe some shooting games (if possible 1440p) I don't play games much other than Fifa. CPU is i5 13600K, 32GB Corsair DDR5, MSI Z790 pro Mobo, my budget for GPU is less than 400
JNWx. RTX 3060 (8GB) vs RTX 3060 (12 GB) Build Help. Price difference: 8gb variant is around 328$ rn and 12gb variant is at 377$. Performance difference: Not much of a difference, but 12gb one obviously has more fps but not more than 15 fps. Is it worth it to pay 48$ more and go for the 12gb variant?
The RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 may not be creator-focused graphics cards, but the RTX 3060 gets much closer to that mark. The RTX 3050 oddly saw a higher overall score in PugetBench for Premiere Pro.
In 2023, even with the new arrivals, the 3060 Ti continues to hold its ground. When compared to the 4060 Ti 8GB and the non-Ti variant of the 4060, it still shines in terms of value. The lack of Ray Tracing 3.0 might be seen as a downside by some. However, it’s important to note that Ray Tracing is still a relatively niche feature.
I used to have a 3060 and it did pretty on certain games with RT. The thing is my TV is up to 4K 120Hz, so for instance, Spider Man looks much better with the higher resolution a graphics settings than with raytracing. Use RT with DLSS. That will give you the visual excellence of RT, with a decent frame rate.
3060 12gb vs 3060 ti in Hogwarts 1440p, 3060 ti is still better in all metrics, 1% Lows, Frametime. It's really just TLOU where the 3060 ti tanks but performance is still better by 10%. Unless OP found the launch version before any patches, where that was a big problem, I think they will be fine.
