The D700 was introduced into Nikon’s DSLR line-up in July 2008, and arrived two months before Canon announced its 21.1MP EOS 5D Mark II. It quickly picked up the nickname ‘baby D3’ as it incorporated many of the advanced features of Nikon’s professional D3 in a more compact and affordable body that was similar in size to the D300.
In comparison, the Nikon D600 has the same built-in flash as higher-end DSLRs, with ability to remotely control other flashes. Canon decided to use the same old 11-point AF system used on the Canon 5D/5D Mark II with a single cross-type sensor, while Nikon used a much better 39 point AF system, with 9 cross-type sensors.
The Nikon Coolpix P1000 has a tiny 1/2.3” sensor, so it produces results similar to what one would see on a smartphone. There is not much leverage in RAW files, and even images at ISO 100 can be quite noisy. COOLPIX P1000 @ 5mm, ISO 100, 1/40, f/5.6.
Feb 14, 2020. #4. I agree with the above, the d7000 is still a fine camera. It is no worse now than it was when it was new and king of the hill. Get back to taking pictures. You know the camera, just go make art. We all get in a period that we think we need to buy something to make our photography better.
If it still doesn't make them buy into Z, or what it can be (and, if only in perception, the 45/61MP thing bothers me), more may give up waiting, so it's a significant design; I feel Nikon doesn't appreciate the lack of lock-in when switching mount (and I jumped from Canon to Nikon at the point of going full frame for similar reasons) and the
The control scheme is just excellent - a thing to love about all Nikon DSLRs. All relevant camera functions can be accessed via buttons. I’d even say that the D700 control scheme is superior to the newer ones as found on the D800 and onwards. The D700 still has dedicated AF-Area and AF-Mode switches.
xmaQdc. The Nikon D700 doesn't feature a video mode, but the D800 brings full HD functionality. It can record 1080p video at 30, 25 and 24fps frame rates, along with 60 and 50fps rates at 720p for
Would have a D700 all day long compared to to the D6XX series, the a.f on the D700 is much better. Would probably still have at least one of them if it had more than one card slot. Still a very capable camera, although they can feel a bit clunky to use compared to the newer models.
A desperate pensioner. But as it happens, pensioners are hardly desperate. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien wrote “ The Lord of the Rings ” when he was 62. What can we expect of D700, then? Plenty, actually. I’ve had my D700 for about a year now, I think.
Get the D90 instead. The Nikon D90 is Nikon's newest and smartest DSLR. It has the same or better technical image quality as the D300 that costs much more, and it handles better and it makes movies, too! The D90 is newer and better than the D300, for a fraction of the price, so long as you prefer the D90's lighter plastic body.
It's been a busy couple of months for Nikon, during which the Japanese camera maker has announced two new models, the D4, a 16MP professional workhorse intended for hard use in a wide range of shooting environments, and the 36.3MP D800 - the long-awaited successor to the 12MP D700. With these two models Nikon has introduced some significant new
