You should play them just because they are good games but you don't really need to in order to understand the 2018 game, is basically a semi reboot and an almost new story, so the old games don't really matter that much apart from understanding Kratos personality better. Keep in mind you could probably buy all the God of War games available for PS3 for less than the price of this remaster. Also keep in mind you can get all 3 Uncharted + the online co-op things for way less. I can only justify getting TLOUR remastered for PS4 because it goes for ridiculously cheap. 80%.
